At our Farm Market we offer a great selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables. We Grow strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelons, squash, pie pumpkins, Halloween pumpkins, as well as garden vegetables such as lettuce, spinach, beans, peas, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, sweet corn, and so much more….
Sometimes we grow things just to see if we can, like this African Horned melon (above), also called Jelly-melon, or a buddha-shaped eggplant (below, second from the right). The taste of the Horned melon resembles a citrus-like cucumber. We have been experimenting with the ‘jelly-melon’ for 3 years now. In our first year, we were only able to harvest several mature fruit because our growing season is too short for the main crop to mature. From these few mature fruit we saved our own seed, and we repeated this process the following two growing seasons. Each year we have been able to harvest more and more fruit. The Jelly melon is a truly unique fruit that you will only be able to find at our family farm market!
Each year we like to try some new things as well as growing our traditional favorites. Everything we offer at our market is either grown on our farm or from a local grower. The preserves we sell are made from local produce in a certified kitchen. Honey, maple syrup and beverages are accessed locally.
We also grow specialty items such as okra, tomatillos, eggplant, yellow and orange melons, honey dew, canary melons, colourful pumpkins, ornamental gourds and coloured corn.
